Contribute to the Jean Veloz Legacy Project (UPDATED)

We regret to share the news that legendary lindy hopper Jean Veloz has passed away at the age of 98. Known for her dancing on screen in “Swing Fever,” “Groovy Movie,” and more, Jean was also a beloved and active member of the Los Angeles lindy hop community until her passing.

Longtime friend of Jean, Rusty Frank, shared with us a project to honor this lindy hop legend in a way that respects her wishes. According to Rusty, Jean expressed a deep desire to have her final resting place at the “Hollywood Forever” cemetery in Los Angeles, alongside the many celebrities interred there.

To make this happen, they are attempting to raise the $30,000 for costs related to purchasing a niche for her next to Judy Garland in the Judy Garland Pavilion. If you would like to support this effort , there are many ways you can contribute:

  • Rusty’s Facebook fundraising page

  • Venmo (Rusty-Frank-1)

  • Zelle (rusty@rustyfrank.com)

  • Paypal (rusty@rustyfrank.com)

  • send a check payable to "American Swing Music and Dance Association" to:

NOTE:  If you pay by Zelle or check, please email Rusty at rusty@rustyfrank.com to let her know the amount so she can update the spreadsheet.
